Gpu fan intake or exhaust. Typically for most setups if you want a normal positive-pressure configuration you want 1-2 fans in the front for intake and 1 fan at the back for exhaust. I never thought about this until I wanted to add 2 intake fans on the bottom of my case to potentially keep my GPU cooler but I realised I dont really know if the GPU fans are intakes or outtakes. Though they probably wont be as loud as the ones included with the case. How To Tell If A Fan Is Intake Or Exhaust by Saum Hadi Posted on March 3 2021 Corsair aio fan orientation custom exhaust fan beneath gpu pics test corsair hd sp rgb led the best case fans for your pc.
Answer 1 of 4. The fan itself is sometimes called an impeller or a centrifugal fan meaning it sucks in the center where the motor is and blows outwards away from the fan blades themselves. As the fan is near to the top of the GPU the fan when set to push the air out as exhaust cools the GPU in a better manner. Bottom case fans should be intake top case fans should be exhaust.
GPU coolers blow air across the heatsink. GPU fans act as an intake which is pulling air in and blowing out of the rear ventilation holes. So if youre still running only the one case fan I would probably buy two more so you can have two at the front and one at the back behind the CPU cooler.
Do your GPU fans intake air or exhaust air.
Thus it is still beneficial to blow air in from the side fan.
A blower GPU design covers these fins with plastic.
So that means more total intake CFM than exhaust CFM.
The dummy GPU used to demonstrate installation in pictures is an open air design not a blower so thats kinda the intended use even for open air cards. Fresh cool air in hot air out. So the flow is supposed to be side intakes back exhaust. The idea is simple. GPU fans grab air and push them into your heatsink which then blows out the sides of it. An open-air GPU cooler has exposed heatsink fins on the top and bottom. Also those 3000RPM Noctua fans are definitely not quite Ive got 2 in my main rig and anything more than 50 is very loud. The rest of the enclosure fans then exhaust the warm air.
But I mod the case and changed all the fans.
Itll basically blow in and the air will be directed right towards the H50.
This can be creatively modulated by CFM rating of the fans youre using.
You shouldnt even power a PC on without an exhaust fan unless you have a passively cooled design Just for kicks one afternoon about a year ago I took the exhaust fan out of a Dell Optiplex and mounted it on the front as a intake fan.
